Programs: Identifying ways to improve the community
The Forestry Action Committee follows its mission of improving the health of the Illinois River Basin, its fisheries and community by engaging in specific projects. Throughout FAC's history the Tree Planting Project has been its greatest success story.
Another current project is the Invasive Plant Removal Project. Using non-chemical techniques (i.e. pulling) FAC has broken new ground in controlling non-native plants that threaten to change the valley.
Through the years, FAC has taken on projects that meet its mission including: mushroom harvest monitoring, various streamside restoration projects and fire prevention planning. Today, the organization continues to seek out projects and partnerships that fit the vision and mission of the group.
